The Provost serves as the chief academic officer for the institution and is  responsible for maintaining the overall quality and integrity of its academic programs. By promoting excellence in teaching and learning, the Provost contributes to the college's overall goal of increasing student success.

Interim Provost Elaine Pogoncheff

Elaine Pogoncheff began her career as a nurse, working at several Michigan hospitals before becoming head nurse at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor.

From early on in her time at hospitals, she focused on coordination, quality improvement, education and leadership. While continuing her work as a nurse, she served as an education specialist for the former Lansing St. Lawrence Hospital's Human Resources Department, developing curriculum and program evaluations for classes on clinical competence, management, organization development and diversity.

She joined LCC in 1994 as an adjunct instructor in the Business and Economics Department of the Arts & Sciences Division. For 23 years, she taught courses in the Management and Leadership Program area, reaching more than 5,500 students. She became the dean of the Arts & Sciences Division in 2015 and took on a broad range of work in strategic planning, program curriculum planning and evaluation, K-12 initiatives, business and industry relations, and budgeting.

Dedicated to building a culture of trust and transparency, Dean Pogoncheff hosted weekly "Tea with Coach P" meetings available to any Arts & Sciences faculty or staff, with an open agenda for discussion, conversation and creative problem solving. She brings her model of participative, steward leadership to her role as interim provost, which she accepted in September 2017.

Pogoncheff earned a Master of Arts in Organization Development from Loyola University of Chicago as well as a Master of Arts in Adult and Continuing Education from Michigan State University. She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Wayne State University, an Associate Degree in Psychology from Washtenaw Community College, and a Diploma in Nursing from Hurley Medical Center School of Nursing in Flint. She is a graduate of Lansing Eastern High School and completed her first year of college at Lansing Community College.
