Enrollment Still Open for Early LCC Kindergarten
LANSING 8/31/11 – For the
second year, Lansing Community College (LCC) and the Lansing School District
(LSD) are partnering to offer an innovative kindergarten program for
Mid-Michigan families at the Early Learning Children’s Community on LCC’s
campus.
The Early LCC Kindergarten, which is open to children in all school
districts, is based on the Reggio Emilia philosophy of early education,
which includes the following principles:
·
Children
must have some control over the direction of their learning;
·
Children
must be able to learn through experiences of touching, moving, listening,
seeing, and hearing;
·
Children
have a relationship with other children and with material items in the world
that children must be allowed to explore and
·
Children
must have endless ways and opportunities to express themselves.
Early LCC offers a before and after school care program, which provides care
from 7:30 am to 8:45 am and from 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm.
Trained teachers provide indoor and outdoor age-appropriate activities, and
escort children to and from their classroom each day.
This program is offered five days a week for the entire school year.
Optional full-time care is available when school is not in session.
